I constantly have to melt the ice between the freezer/refrigerator airflow at the air diffuser. I also have to constantly melt the ice in the vent on the side of the refrigerator to ensure cold air is flowing through the diffuser. What part has failed that causes me to constantly have to do this? Thanks.

I'd check for door seals leaks or miss-aligned doors that don't seal tight.

Frost is moisture from the air. Sometimes the ice dispenser doors stick open, but that usually shows up as frost around the icemaker bin.
