I have a Maytag Centennial electric dryer that I've had for just about 5 years. It has started to snag clothing and I don't know what part I need to get to repair it or even if it can be repaired.
When I look inside the drum of the dryer, the place where the heated air comes out is very dark. I understand that this is normal due to the heated air passing through. However, the grate or vent is very rough and has sharp edges poking out. I just removed a load of laundry and one of my grandson's socks was hung up on the grate and once I was able to remove it, sure enough, it had a great big snag. Is there anything I can do to either smooth out those rough edges or is there a way to replace that vent or grate? The dryer still works well otherwise and I'd hate to have to replace it but I can't have it ruining our clothing either! I just replaced the matching washer...now I'm guessing I should have just went ahead and got the matching dryer as well. Gah!

If you could get a good picture of the part that is snagging the clothes, that would help.
Also please post the model number.

Did you get this resolved ? If you can post a picture I may have a used part that fits this model that is smooth on the side facing the clothes. I would sell it for $10 plus postage. I live in central Illinois at zip code 61571
