This ice maker stopped making ice cubes and here is what I found. The Cutting Grid is not heating to allow the slab of ice to drop through (cubes). In troubleshooting this, I first measured the resistance of the grid, which came out to be about 5 ohms. I understand it should be 20. Then I disconnected the grid and measured the voltage and it's about 8.5 vac, which is about right. I then removed the grid and ran the ice maker and it cycled though about slabs of ice that dropped into the bin, so I'm pretty sure the problem is in the grid. What I don't know is the transformer (8.5v) under load, but with the resistance only at 5 ohms, I would have though the wire would be hotter, but it is not even warm.
Do I replace the cutter wire or should I look for something else?
