The oven light burned out on our GE oven and when we tried to replace it, we did not know the light switch was in the 'on' position. Forgot to trip the circuit breakers or unplug the stove (dumb, dumb, dumb). We got the bulb out but the bulb itself had broken off from the base. We went to unscrew the base and managed to arc the connection due to the 'dumb' noted above.
Now the oven will not work, nor will the control panel - no lights, clock - nothing. However, the top elements seem to be working ok. We think the control panel took a hit.
Question: is this something that can be fixed by a DIY'er and at what cost? Or is it time to replace the stove??
