I just got this dryer and am not sure if it makes a difference which direction the knobs are rotated. Does it make a difference or should they be turned clockwise only?

If you are talking about the timer knob, I always turn them the way they normally turn. I think they will last longer. My old Whirlpool dryer is 34 and still on its original timer.

If I want to add more time to a cycle, I open the door and then rotate the timer, then restart the dryer. Turning them live burns up the timer contacts.
