I have a Model #GSH22JSTASS GE Side-by-Side Refrigerator.

The compressor doesnt seem to be turning on. The lights inside the refrig do turn on. The refrig and freezer are no longer cooling at all.

I tested the electric outlet, it is good. I cleaned the dust from the coils. Still no action from the compressor.

I removed the WR07X10024 GE Ptcr Relay from the refrig (which is rattling when you shake it). The number on the part itself is mtp 41f04 +628

My first guess is that this part is defective since the compressor isn't starting.

Questions are: Am I correct in assuming this is likely the culprit?
I have not been able to find the part anywhere online.
Is there any cross compatibility of this part any other parts?
Any suggestions welcome.

There are a few things you can test and look at the confirm what the issue is. Lets start with using an ohm meter and checking the compressor. There are 3 pins. Two across from eachother and one off by itself. Touch the solitary pin with one lead and each of the others one at a time. If they read as open or infinite ohms, the compressor is shot. Next Ohm from each pin to the case of the compressor itself. If it shows as closed, compressor is shot.

The next thing to do is to pull the control board out. It is under the rectangular cover on the back of the unit. Squeeze the 4 pins holding it in and pull the board out so you can look at the back side of it. Look for any sort of burn mark. If there is one, it needs a new board.

Check that stuff out and post what you find. Thanks!
