On a Frigidaire Gallery (Electrolux) refrigerator FRS6L7EES9 - I changed the water inlet valve 2 years ago with no problems - 2 weeks ago, a small leak at bottom of fridge turned out to be at the push-in connector for ice make line at the water inlet valve assembly - attempted to freshen the line, but the push-in connector was frozen, so I replaced the entire assembly - NOW the crazy stuff. The water dispenser worked but while waiting to check the ice maker - a mechanical sound (a grind/growl) happened at about 5 minutes and water poured out of the dispenser (1/3 of cup amount) stopped and repeated several minutes later - like the supply to fill the ice maker was connected to water dispenser! I thought I may have fried the dispenser circuit boards somehow - so I got the replacements - now water will not dispense at the front and the cycled noise / pouring out of the dispenser is still there. I cannot find this symptom listed online anywhere - what goes on here? Thanks for any help. P.S. if the water/ice maker is not able to be repaired can we just turn off water without any risk to control of temp for fridge and freezer? Hoop

Have you checked voltage at the valve when this happens? I'm curious what solenoids are getting power when it randomly dispenses water. It sounds like something is wired incorrectly. Any chance you got the main and dispenser wiring plugs reversed? As for shutting the water off, you can do that and not worry about it affecting anything.
