First time here! I've used this site for a while with great results however I have not been able to find my exact refrigerator issue yet.

The other day a noise started coming from the top of the freezer. After some research it sounded like it could be the evaporator motor or fan but then the noise stopped. I then noticed icicles forming under the ice maker and what appeared to be ice that had formed from water running down the back of the freezer. Today I noticed ice cubes that had fallen below the ice maker.

Everything in the freezer is still frozen and the fridge is still cold.

Could the noise have come from ice build up and then went away when the ice was defrosted or do I have two separate issues? Any help would be appreciated!

Sounds like something jammed up your ice maker and it spilled down the back. Usually that gets some ice and fan interaction which would explain the noise. Thaw all the ice out and clean the ice maker up a bit and see if it repeats. Could also be the valve seeping thru little by little.
