I have 2 identical Roper [WIRLPOOL] refrigerators from around year 2006 that have been sitting idle for a 6 years [maybe one was turned on once in the interim]. I went to use one and it turned on, but then some time later [a few hours] it blew the ground fault wall outlet and then the compressor refused to turn on again. I just tried the second refrigerator and it did the exact same thing. I'm wondering if the defrost timers were in the defrost mode when the breaker triggered, and now the unit needs to goes trough a defrost [thereby keeping the compressor from starting] or if both compressor start relays went bad just sitting. I removed one start replay out and can hear a slight noise when I shake it, but only a slight noise. Is any noise indicative of a bad start replay? And why would they both break just from sitting idle? I'm also not sure where the defrost timer is located.
