Whirlpool side by side - freezer too cold ? fridge not cold enough

Hello,
Recently, I've noticed food in freezer is colder than normal (ice cream really hard), and fridge side not cold enough. I don't have any food positioned any differently than usual, nothing blocking the 2 vents in the fridge.
Some other observations:
- Some frost build up in front part of freezer roof, a few inches in from front - evaporator coils not frozen up - drain hole in freezer frozen over and some frozen water trails running down to bottom of freezer
- both vents in fridge (lt side upper, and lower by fresh food) seem to be iced over - air control slider and the other slider don't move freely - hear new popping/creak sound from rt side of fridge after opening/closing freezer door
Thanks for any info on where to start
