I have a Kenmore dryer that isn't heating. The igniter would glow, but no flame. I tested the igniter and flame sensor with a multimeter, and they were within spec, so I went to remove the solenoids to test and replace them. From all the online guides, it seemed very easy to remove the coil, but on this dryer they were attached to the solenoid itself.
The gas valve assembly for the dryer is a CGV22CK if you'd like to google a picture (I can't seem to post a link).
Not knowing this, when I pulled the coil off all of the internal solenoid components sprang out. I can't seem to find a teardown of the solenoid online, so I'm not sure what if any parts flew out that I'm missing. I found a rubber disk, a metal ring, and a spring, but it seems like there maybe should be a post in the middle too. It doesn't fit nearly as tightly as it did when I pulled it off.
The main questions I have are:
Am I screwed having opened the solenoid? Fixing my dryer is important, but less important than not burning down my house. Can I replace the coils on this burner, or do I need to buy a whole new assembly? After pulling off the coil I went ahead and tested it as well and it also seems to be within spec (2k ohms). If everything is testing correctly, is this even the right direction to be going? Should I just break down and call a professional at this point?
