My 2 & 3 year old boys jumped on my Maytag dishwasher today. I was taking out the garbage and walked in to find them up from what was supposed to be a nap... I was outside for literally 1 minute and a half. They were sleeping so thought all was well. NOT so! They have ruined my relatively new Maytag dishwasher. It won't close. It seems as though the hinges might be broken? They weigh about 60lbs put together and they were both standing on it when I came in the house. Just had surgery on my arm and hand so it is so important for me to avoid infection, meaning i have to keep my cast dry.

If anyone has advice I am open to your wisdom. I am not afraid to fix things, but I just haven't found anything online to do so. I haven't exhausted my resources to figure this out, but would appreciate some 'real life' advice from a person.

Thank you for any "how-to's".

Godbless.

  • Shut off electrical power and water supply to the dishwasher.

  • Remove the bottom front access panel and toe panel.

  • Pull out the dishwasher.

  • Remove the springs.

  • Attach the new springs.

  • Reinstall the dishwasher.
