Desperately seeking answer to what is wrong with frig. Frig got really loud a few days ago so we checked for dust, debris and circulating fans. All work, although the evap fan sounds like it is struggling.
Frig super warm, slow but sure decrease in temp over several days. The loud noise is not so loud anymore. Fans are working and I tend to think it is an air flow blockage based on reading a lot of different sites about this problem. What I have not found addressed is how to unclog a blocked air flow. And how to tell if it is the fan.
I am no repair person, but I did try noticing if the air flow is stronger when the freezer door is open. Yes it is. What kind of blockage could it be? We have removed as much of the panel in the freezer as we were able to without removing the ice maker which is where I suspect the blockage to be. Before putting out $ for parts would like to explore possibility of air flow blockage and how to fix it.
Also I hear a steady hum and a kind of whirring of the evap fan. How long can the frig maintain this before something major goes wrong; i.e., the compressor. We had to replace the frig the first year we owned it because the compressor went out. It took 7 days for the seller and the manufacturer to take ownership and give us a new frig, despite being under warranty. The frig is about 10 or 11 years old.
Please help. Could really use some specific advice with clear instructions.
Thank you so much.
