I have a kitchenaid under counter ice machine that has recently started filling with water and over flowing. Came home a week ago and it was full of water and the babysitter had put a towel down in front of it to dry up the overflow, the blue "on " light was off. I unplugged it removed all the water and let it sit for a few hours. Pulled the machine out to make sure there was no kink in the drain hose (unit has a built in pump) it looked fine. Plugged it back in and seemed to be working fine. I could hear the drain pump come on and see it discharge water into the disposal. Let unit run all night and I did hear some ice drop at some point but in the morning the light was off and there was about 2 inches of water in the bottom. Didn't unplug it and went to work and come home to 4-5 inches of water in the unit. Unplugged it and let it sit for 2 days then tried again. This time it ran fine for 3 days filled up completely with ice. Went out of town over the weekend (i should have turned it off and pulled all the ice) Had my parents check on it on Sunday and it was fine, light still on. Monday at noon it was full over water and had overflowed onto floor!
It seems as if the pump stops at sometime and turns the machine off and then later it tries to cycle but doesn't drain. It is just weird that I know the pump works at times. I have called a local repair man but they cant get out until tomorrow.
Any ideas on what could be the problem
