Purchased a home that has a free standing ice maker that never worked. I cleaned the unit inside & out, replaced all of the hoses, supply lines, and cleaned the coils (heavily covered in dust). When turned on, the unit fills the tray w/ water and begins to cycle water over the plate. The compressor does not kick on, nor does the condenser fan. The compressor does get warm/hot though (so there is power to it). It just fills/cycles water and never gets cold. Do I have a bad compressor, or could this be a result of a bad thermistor, relay, or control unit? Thank you for any help. J

Thinking about trying a new thermistor first, as it is easy to change and only a $20 part. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

JDHomeRepair - I have a similar issue with my ice machine. Did you ever figure out the correct part that you needed?

Nope. No one on here responded w/ suggestions. I'm pretty sure I narrowed it down to the compressor needing replaced though. Don't think I want to tackle that myself (don't really have the time or right equipment). Guessing it will cost a few hundred bucks for parts/labor, and I'm not sure I want to put that much into it right now. So, it's still sitting there not working. :(
