6 years old. All of a sudden the Freezer lost temperature and doesn't get cold enough now. The refrigerator section remains at its correct temperature.

I turned everything off for 8 hours to make sure the coil wasn't frosted up and it seems fine now. Originally it had a bit on the bottom of the cooling element that was a bit frosty and the top didn't seem to have frost. We brought in a technician who said it needed a Refrigerant Recharge. He wanted $400 to test for a leak and $290 to recharge. He didn't appear very competent so we decided to do as much as we could ourselves to diagnose the problem since if there was a leak, spending $790 didn't seem worth it.

Have taken it apart inside again after a couple of days being back on power and there was no frost at all on the coil inside. Used a cheap leak detector from Amazon and poked around in the bottom and inside and no leaks were detected.

Just turned it back on after I checked for leaks and frost has appeared across the whole coil inside.

Was hoping to look for the sensor that regulates the freezer side but don't know where to look and how to test even if I find it.

It seems to be gurgling a bit from inside (not the ice maker) and has warmed up since I put the plastic cover back inside.

Not sure if there is a fan in freezer compartment. Don't feel much air movement if any. Also, could the auto defrost element be permanently on?

Any help would be appreciated. :)

Circulating Fan Motor is open circuit. New part ordered.

Hopefully if anyone else has a similar problem they will see this answer.

If your refrigerator or freezer seems a bit warm or the motor starts to rattle behind the freezer wall, you may need to replace the evaporator fan to keep your refrigerator running properly.
