Hi,

I'm having a strange issue with my refrigerator. It suddenly stops cooling, The the fans are going but the compressor stops working and the freezer thaws.

As I open the refrigerator door, the machine comes back to life and the compressor starts up again. The next morning I'll find that the compressor isn't running again and everything has defrosted once more. This cycle has been happening intermittently for about two weeks now.
Any ideas ?

Thanks,
Kobus

Okay, since my last post I've been running my fridge on a plug-in timer. I've set it to shut off for a half hour every two hours. This seems to work.
I would like to repair it instead of relying on my hacked together work-around.

I suspect it may be the computer that just needs to get reset.
Could there be some sensor that the computer is waiting for or is it the main board that's gone ? The strange thing is that the temp controls and LED display work fine which would indicate that the computer is running okay.

Any ideas ? Any definitive way to test if it's the computer ?
