We are attempting to take out our old gas range with attached microwave with exhaust fan. It seems to be firmly attached to the vent that goes through the ceiling. It doesn't help much that the top cupboard seems to be built around it.
We have done all we can think of to take the cupboard off. There has to be a reverse process to get it off. Also, the top of the exhaust hood seems to be well attached to the flue. There's only an inch of space between the top of the hood and the bottom of the cupboard. I'm pretty sure the cupboard is newer than the range.
My main question is: how is the hood and the vent attached so I can disconnect them? Do I have to dismantle my range? I can't even get behind it to unplug the electricity and turn off the gas. The cupboards and counter are built right up to the range. It looked like we could slide one out and slide the new one in, but it doesn't work like that...
Thank you for any help you can give! We can go at it again tomorrow.
