My Maytag Legacy Series electric dryer is shutting off during the drying cycle. The inside light remains working and the dryer will start working again after the machine sits for a while. The thermostat has already been replaced as we suspected it to be the problem. Please help as we have a lot of wet clothes:confused: .

Sounds like the motor is overheating.
It has an internal thermal cutout which will reset once the motor cools down.

Rotate the drum by hand, it should turn fairly easily, if not you may be overloading the motor causing it to overheat.

Open the unit up and clean the motor it may be clogged solid with lint.
