The timer dial of our GE Profile dryer popped off and it was easily reattached, but now the dryer won't start. Also, the timer dial seems to slide to the off position. For example, after trying to set the timer for 10 minutes, it simply slides right to off.
Sometimes I can get the dryer to start for a small amount of time.
Could the timer mechanism behind the panel be rotated off axis or disoriented in some way due to spinning the dial too many times in one direction? Is there an easy fix? The dryer worked perfectly up until the dial came off. Are there any other threads related to this problem?

Check the inside of that timer know for cracks! Sometimes they split and cause your dial not to move when it's turned.
