I have replaced both thermistors and find that the unit still overheats. Even when on timed "air dry" which greatly worries me. The last thermistor cites a 127-37C range. Is that normal?

Dissembled & confirmed there is no air blockage in or through air vent. New heater element as well, just to check that angle out. No shorts found on/in the heater elements. Is the only next thing to replace the control board?

Yes, if the element is not grounded on the unit, you will need to order and replace the control board on the unit. The relay is stuck on the board keeping the heater turned on.
