History of this washer model has been a little shaky regarding purchasing future Kenmore-Sears units. 8 years old and kept indoors under climate control, 3 years ago the seal and bearing had to be replaced. Decided to purchase 2 bearing/seal kits since the bearing removal tool had to be purchased as well. Sears would not sell the kit unless a certified technician was purchasing it. Found the kits on ********.

Just of recent the drain pump had been making cavitation noises suggesting either the inlet is blocked or the pump is beginning to fail. Finally the washer stopped during a wash cycle. No matter what you did, when you power the unit up and press start or any other washing feature the machine will give you 3 beeps. For any trouble shooting the unit has to be unplugged.

Found that the diagnostic mode can be accessed by pressing on any of the right side buttons, holding it for 5 seconds, then releasing, and repeating again twice more, where the washer panel lights will light up as it goes into diagnostic mode.

If nothing is changed the washer will display errors codes. Press start to scan thru the codes. The last one will stay and all touches will result in a triple beep. I had F51 (Rotor position sensor failure), and F33 (CCU lost comm with drain pump).

Unplug the unit and wait a few minutes and then plug it back in and re-enter diagnostic mode. Double push, twice, the same button used to enter diagnostic mode and the washer will go into test mode where it will test out all sequences. They are named C01 to C09 on the display. You can step through them by pushing the same button once.

Manually drained the water (no way to tell the washer to use the drain pump that I can find) and ordered a new drain pump. Replaced the drain pump and the F33 error is gone. But the F51 is still displayed.

The reason the unit would not respond before is b/c of the F33 error code. The unit will allow you to begin a wash cycle but be ready for it not to go into spin mode or step into the drain mode.

The diagnostic C01 thru C09 was re-ran and when the unit reached C07 (spin and drain sequence) the agitator slowly pulsed back and forth. Stepping into C08 is the final step from drain, which the unit essentially skips onto C09 and completes the test.

This confirms the RPS is bad. Unfortunately you cannot purchase just the sensor. The entire wiring harness, pressure tube, rotor cover, and sensor have to be purchased as a kit. [FONT=&quot]W10183157 (AP4327312) is the kit.

Found the sensor on the unit had a small surface fracture across a circuit. Probably could have dropped some solder on it but decided to play it safe. Will install the kit in a couple of days when it arrives.
