Started the washed this morning. Was working properly until it hit the spin cycle. Very loud grinding noise. Water drains but no spin. I tried putting the control on spin for different cycles, then other places on the control; same loud noise. Any suggestions to diagnose the problem, and what it will take to fix it?

Reading further into similar threads, it sounds like the direct drive coupling is suspicious.

Lifted the washer, and there is a small area of oil on the floor. Does this indicate a more significant problem than the coupling?
