A week ago I noticed the washer making a loud noise while it was in the spin cycle. I runs and sounds normal during the wash cycle. I suspected a possible bearing problem. It now make a loud noise during the spin accompanied by a loud knocking sound. The suspension springs look fine. I've looked at several forums and the only thing that seems to make the symptoms is the tub bearing. Any help or ideas?

First check the brakes, they may not be releasing entirely and causing the problem. If that is not the problem the issue may be something in the transmission.
