The igniter is arcing at the base of the ceramic and not at the metal electrode on top. I want to remove the surface burner, but the two screw heads are rusted away. How do I remove the burner/igniter? I have attached a small piece of wire to create a spark i that little valley area, but that is not working very well. It takes a long time to ignite. Rank: Member Groups: Registered Joined: 5/7/2009(UTC) Posts: 41		Had to drill out the two rusted screws. Only got one out. Took three hours and various drill bits. Replaced it with a stainless screw. Have to get new sharper small bits to get the second one out. Solved the igniter arcing problem by insulating the ceramic igniter with a small piece of shrink tubing at the base. After arcing problem cured, that small wire is no longer needed.
