The freezer in my LG French Door refrigerator began thawing the other day. I discovered that the compressor was running but the evaporator fan was not on. In the process of removing the evaporator fan, I inadvertently discovered that the fan works if the freezer sensor is NOT connected. As soon as I reconnect the freezer sensor the fan stops again. Even though the sensor tested good with an ohmmeter, I bought a replacement anyway (they're cheap). The fan still does not turn when the sensor is connected. I have been running the refrigerator for five days now without the sensor and it is very cold. Unfortunately, I have an error message indicating there is no sensor connected
(makes sense), and my ice and water dispenser do not operate as a result. Is this a motherboard problem or something else??

It does sound like a control board problem to me.

Your unit does not come up at AppliancePartsPros, probably too new.
It does come up on the Sears parts site, so I looked up the part number here.
The difference is that AppliancePartsPros is a little cheaper but the big one is that AppliancePartsPros will let you return the board if it does not fix your problem. Please see their return policy.
Click on the picture for more info about the part.
