I have an Amana top-loading washer that I purchased used. I have had it for about 4 years. I am not sure when it was manufactured. (From inside the lid, lower right) Model number: LWA30BW, MFG NO. PLWA30BW,
Serial R 9809035582 (is the 98 the year of mfg?)

Anyway, the machine has worked beautifully till now. Now, it only works on delicate. I can run a load just as usual, fill the tank (fills fine), but the timer doesn't seem to go. It doesn't start to agitate, and doesn't spin, even when I advance the dial manually.

Is this the timer going/gone bad? Or is there something else it could be? nothing else seems to be an issue. It appears to work as it is supposed to when used on delicate.

If it goes through the delicate cycle with no problem then that suggests the timer is the issue. Given the age of the machine I suggest you order a timer from this site as you can return it if it does not fix things, and if it does not fix things then a new basic top loader would seem to be the best choice.
