My fridge and freezer seem to be having trouble knowing when to kick on to keep itself up to temperature. If I turn the dial in the fridge to make it colder or softly hit the housing where the thermostat is, the fridge/freezer kicks on and runs fine for a few days, but then after a few days, it stops running and doesn't hold the temperature. It was so bad one day that when I opened my fridge door, water was leaking through from the freezer as if something was melting.

I'm submitting this question today so I can find out which parts I should buy to fix this issue. I've consulted another repair tech and he suggested ordering a new thermostat, but I'm wondering if it's even worth it. I appreciate any assistance you can provide or if others think it is best just to try to buy a new fridge considering this one has already lived a long life.

Your model number looks incomplete.

Kenmore numbers are usually 3 digits, a period and then an additional 8 digits.

If the unit is in good shape than it is probably worth fixing.
