Hello, The oven section of the stove comes on when the knob is turned but the temp will not set and the temp gets hotter and hotter until the knob is turned back to the off position. I have the breaker shut off, when the breaker is on the oven light comes on but the oven will not come on until the knob is turned on. Would this be a thermostat problem?

Here are your parts
Parts for GE JBS07M2BB Range - AppliancePartsPros.com

I do not have and cannot get a wiring diagram for this unit but it sounds like the oven thermostat (Item 14 in section 01) is shot.

I am assuming that the element that stays on heats up fairly evenly along itès entire length.
