I have a LG refrigerator, I believe from 2008 - we inherited it with the house we bought.

When I open the door, the thermostat "pings" then automatically lowers the temperature one degree. If I wait there, it will randomly set one more degree lower again. Eventually the thermostat hits 32 degrees.

Closing the doors, and waiting a few hours, the food will start to freeze in the refrigerator...

LG Support hotline said "my doors will make a sound if they are not level --- The temperature in the refrigerator should be going up when the doors are open, not down! Check to make sure the doors are level." Well, my doors are most certainly level, and the thermostat keeps setting lower when the doors are open. I chuckled after hanging up the phone.

Any ideas?

Repair history:
I had a problem where the lights were not shutting off when closing the doors 18 months ago, a bunch of wiring and the main board were replaced.
