Power outage, then the power is restored the refrigerator Electrolux not working
Model Number: Electrolux Icon Brand: Electrolux Age: 6 months Power outage in area. Next day noticed Electrolux Icon side by side has not ice and refrigerator is warm. Pulled plug, reset several times. Compresser starts but shuts down after a couple of minutes. What's wrong?
FYI, must have been large power surge. Several neighbors had cable boxes fry and one a/c wire melted.

A model number would be useful here. Find your model number - AppliancePartsPros.comSounds like the compressor is overheating and it's thermal protect is opening. If the unit has a condenser/compressor fan does it keep running when the compressor shuts off? On many units that fan is wired in parallel with the compressor. If that is the case then you knoe that it is a compressor problem and not a control problem. Below is a link which may help you check the compressor windings for continuity and to see if they are grounded. Note that the test can tell you if a compressor is bad it does not tell you that a compressor is good as it may have other internal problems. The unit may use a solid state start device which cannot be checked os usually you have to just buy another one and try it. How To Fix a Refrigerator - Appliance Repair Guide - ACME HOW TO.com |
