Dryer won't shut off. Thinking the timer is bad.

Does it do this in both timed dry and auto modes?

Does the timer advance?

Yes it does it in all cycles. But does advance but it won't
after it gets to the end of the cycle

Yes it does sound like a timer problem as it is going past off.

You could check the timer with a meter at the end of cycle to see if a contact set is not opening, see the timer chart.
