Ok so I found some info already but it pertains to different models so I don't know if it applies here or not. Here is what I know so far. Also I don't know how old this machine is so I just guessed on that.

When the tub fills with the water level set to max it rises approx 1 3/4" above the top rows of holes in the tub. Is this the correct level for this model?

I did the test mentioned about having the water filling the tub and unplugging the machine to make sure the water shuts off promptly and it does.

During the agitating cycle the tub is not spinning so all appears ok there with the agitator.

I removed the fill level line from the clear plastic box on the lower part of the tub and blow into it and I can hear the click of the level switch and when I do this it does shut off the water straight away. I don't see any obstruction in the tube or box. When I pulled off the tube from the box water came out of the box shooting straight up....while I did not expect that I am taking that as a sign there is no restriction inside as well.

If the water level is higher then it is suppose to be could it be that while the level switch is working it is worn in a way that it is taking more pressure to shut it off resulting in the higher level of water?

Any ideas?

Ok went ahead and purchased the level switch and tube but the water level is still the same so that was not the answer. While changing the tube I noticed that up at the top of the tub were four(one in each corner of the machine) rubber band like items that I am thinking limit the tubs movement. They all four were broke so maybe the tub is moving more then normal and the water is splashing out into the flood tube??? So now I am going to try and figure out what these items are called and possibly order them next to see what happens.
