Hello,

Our Kenmore dishwasher has intermittently stopped washing dishes.

When a wash cycle is started, I can hear the valve click open and water entering the dishwasher. After the water enters, the dishwasher will sit still for a minute. Sometimes the pump will start pumping, sometimes it won't.

I have pulled the dishwasher out from under the counter and put my hand on the pump/motor. On the cycles where the pump doesn't work, you can feel it try to start, but after a second or two it gives up. Sometimes you can shake it a bit to get it started, but maybe that's just my imagination and it was going to start anyway.

Water will drain like normal if the cycle is cancelled.

Is this a bad pump/motor? Or maybe a related switch or circuit board?

Thanks,
Ed

Here are your parts
Parts for 66513293K116 - AppliancePartsPros.com

Note that the Sears site should have proper part breakdown diagrams.
They do not share theses with other part vendors but it is easier to find a part number there and then look that number up at AppliancePartsPros which often has more info on that part re a Q&A etc,

See the attachment for the tech sheet.

Yes it does sound like the motor is on it's last legs.
You could check the voltage across the motor when it should be running to see if you are getting the full 120 volts across it.
If the voltage is low then it could be a bad relay (pitted contacts) on the control board.

Also it would not hurt to remove he pump to see if it's impeller is clean or gunked up.
