I am making a camper out of a van and would like to put a fridge in it. I have heard people say that a chest freezer can be converted into a fridge by changing the thermostat. I am looking for a chest fridge that will let me do that. Also, are the motors separate from the compressor? If possible I would like to replace the 110 v motor with a 24 v motor. Any ideas?

Doing this would probably end up costing you more than getting a unit that is made for a RV.

Also would be a lot more hassle.
