Hello all.

I have a Maytag Performa electric dryer that was abused with restricted airflow due to clogging lint. Now with all the lint gone and plenty of airflow, I am able to see that when a cycle is started, everything clicks on and the heating element starts to glow. However, the heating element becomes brighter and brighter until, after about 10 seconds, it overheats and engages the high limit thermostat. The dryer will then finish the entire cycle with no heat. If anyone has any answers or can lead me in the right direction to the source of the problem, it would be very appreciative.

Thanks,
Tony

Here are your parts

Could be a grounded element.
Unplug the unit.
Disconnect both wires from the heater.
Measure the heater, should be around 12 ohms.
Then measure from each side of the heater to the case, both should be infinite ohms.
If not the element is grounded and should be replaced.
