Hello All,
I am in hopes of engaging knowledge from any of the veteran appliance repair folks out there. I have worked on 'many' of the Whirlpool class in door icemakers with fairly good success. I have three Whirlpool refrigerators (and one Kitchenaid - same icemaker) in my personal home and in rental properties...
In one of the Whirlpool units, I had a 'no ice' issue, and had 'no' led status of any kind. I replaced the optics with the appropriate 2002 version boards, and got lights back, and making ice like no tomorrow.... however, I can NOT get a solid red led status when the flapper door is closed, no matter what I do. I have swapped out the optics boards with my own personal set from the Kitchenaid frig, and confirmed the new boards work just fine in my frig... AND I put my personal boards into the Whirlpool and still NO solid Red Led status. I have confirmed ALL wiring between the Emitter Board and the Receiver Board...
And all wiring between Receiver board and icemaker. Everything works fine except ability to stop the icemaker. All indications are bad Emitter board not sending the Infrared beam across the freezer to the Receiver Board... however, a known working board does not fix it either... and can NOT find anything else wrong. It is a very simple wiring circuit, and easily trouble shot.

I am just simply out of ideas on what to try next, when known good boards will not give me a 'stop making ice' signal...

Any help/knowledge is appreciated and thank you in advance.

Rick
