I'd love to know what causes a Dryer Belt Restrainer to melt and fall off? Any ideas? Belt is new. And, is it absolutely necessary to replace it? I've put quite a few dollars in it lately and would hate to spend another $50 for this part.

Thanks!

Yes the restrainer keeps the belt from rubbing on the motor shaft. I believe it is a necessary part. As for why it melted, it could have been due to problems with the old belt.
