I posted this question in an old thread, so I'm reposting it fresh here so that maybe it is more visible. I'm trying to replace the broken dryer belt on my Danby Dryer. Danby has stopped making dryers, but they were still able to send me the appropriate belt. However, it hasn't been as easy a DIY job as I expected. The Danby seems to be manufactured in way that makes accessing the dryer belt much more difficult than other manufacturers. Also, when I get to the pulley/drive system, it doesn't look like other models. Nevertheless, I believe I have correctly installed the belt. DOES THIS LOOK CORRECT? Thanks for any and all insight!

I cannot be 100% sure as I have never worked on one of these and cannot find any service info on it but it looks correct to me.
If you installed it incorrectly the drum would not turn.
Turn the drum in the correct direction by hand. It should turn fairly easily. You may want to try this on a couple other units to get a feel for it.
If it is hard to turn then you may have a problem with the rear drum support roller, the front glides, one of the idler wheels or the drum seals.
Also this would be a good time to check/clean your vent system. |
