When we use the oven for a long time (over an hour) the stove top knobs that control the burners get very hard to use. Our assumption is that the heat buildup is affecting the plastic knobs. Several times now the Power Burner knob stops working when the oven is hot. It spins and we can't control the level of gas coming out. Yesterday it got stuck on and I couldn't turn the burner off at all. My husband pulled the knob off and was able to turn the metal part with pliers. Once the oven is off and the knobs cool down, they go back to working normally.

We have been considering buying new knobs but are wondering if it could be a worn oven gasket issue. Looks like Whirlpool doesn't make the gasket for this oven any longer.

Thoughts on what could be causing this problem?
