Hi I have a Frigidaire FRS6R5ESBS Side by Side Fridge. The other day I noticed the fridge making noise like the fan going on and off every 2 seconds or so. I also noticed the freezer was okay, but the fridge side was warm. I took the back panel out and seen the coils were frozen over. I turned off the fridge for 48 hours let it thaw out and plugged it back in and it is still making the noise on and off after about 15 mins of use and the fridge is not that cold. What could be the problem? I was thinking it could be the fan or compressor going out? Please help I just got married and dont have any extra money for a new fridge yet..
The compressor is running...i would say its warm maybe hot i can put my hand on it no problem.
I have tested the Heater Assembly and tested good at 33.1 oms....I tested the defrost Thermostat also tested with omh reading of 8oms..
Looks like it may be the defrost control board? anyway to test that?
Is this the reason why the fan keeps turning on and off every 2 seconds or may this be another problem?
thank you
Jay

The defrost thermostat can be tested for Ohms, both before, and after submerging it in a glass of ice water to make it open. Frozen coils are indeed a defrost problem, more often than not, the thermostat.
