I have a Frigidaire side-by-side Model FFHS2313LS5 - 3 years old.

It has completely stopped cooling. When you plug it in, the condenser fan starts, there is a loud buzz from the compressor for roughly 5-10 seconds, then the relay clicks and the buzz stops. It cycles through that every minute or so.

I removed the PTC to test the compressor with a meter - Run winding was 4ohms, start winding was 7ohms. Additionally, I tested each of the pins on the compressor for a short against the chassis and did not find any. That seemed to indicate to me that the compressor was fine and that my PTC or run capacitor had failed. I replaced both and nothing has changed.

The condenser coils aren't terribly dirty (I don't have a specialty brush or vacuum attachment to clean them, but have poked around in there with a broom and vacuum).

The evaporator coils have no frost, but the fan is running.

What do I do next?

Any advice is much appreciated.

Hi.

You need to check if the compressor is getting the 120VAC from the control board. With the cover removed carefully check the voltage between Red and Blue wire terminals (relay and overload). If there is incorrect voltage, you need a new control board and if if the voltage is correct, you have a jammed compressor. I have a strong feeling that it's the compressor. Check the warranty, it may still be covered. Otherwise it's an expensive repair.

Here are the breakdown diagrams and parts list for your refrigerator:

Good luck. Please keep us posted with the results.

Thank you,

Simon.
