My son started dryer without cleaning the filter. That load dried but dryer got very hot on the outside. Dryer now heats with the door open but will not tumble at all. he also has a tendency to slam the door. Where should I start, fuse, door switch?

You say it won't tumble but does the drive motor run? If not, check the thermal fuse on the blower housing. If it is running, check for a broken belt. As for heating with the door open, depends on if the drive motor is running or not. If it's running with the door open, then the door switch is bad. If it's not running, check for a grounded heat element.

I replaced the fuse and the door switch. It will now tumble, but the heat still stays on with the door open if there is any time left on the timer. What else should I check?

Check for a grounded heat element.
