Hi all
I've got a newer Maytag dryer, and I noticed today that the dryer lint screen appears scorched (I'm not sure if that's the correct way to state it, but that's what it looks like to me. The lint that's stuck just appears darker than the screen, and won't come off), and I'm not able to get it cleaned off.
Is there a specific way to clean the lint screens?
I did a search and didn't find anything specific.
TYIA for your assistance.
Best.

Do you use liquid fabric softener.
If yes then it could be that you are using too much and the coating is fabric softener residue.
Perhaps the following will help.
How to Clean a Dryer Lint Screen | Cleaning Guides

If it is this, also check/clean the holes (hot air entrance) to make sure that there is no residue on them.

I doubt it will be the temperature because the unit has a thermal fuse on the blower. If the temperature gets too high at the blower this fuse blows.
If not then I would check the exhaust temperature with a thermometer.
Your cycling thermostat opens at 155 degrees F, so on a high temperature setting the exhaust temperature should be close to this.

Unplug the unit and disconnect it from the vent system.
Now try a run using normal/high heat.
Hold a thermometer in the exhaust so you can monitor the temperature.

May also be that the vent system is partially plugged or the vent louvers on the outside of the house are not opening correctly. This would cause the unit to run hotter than it should when hooked up to the vent.

Note that I am off to the lake tomorrow so will not be able to respond until Tuesday.
So if the above is no help you may want to re-post.
