An appliance repair tech was sent through the home insurance company to repair a leaking dw.

The tech took off the access panel. We know for sure the supply line is not leaking. Door is not leaking.
Something around the center of the dw underneath is leaking.

It leaks immediately upon choosing any cycle.... wash, rinse, etc

the tech would not tell me what was broken, but he did send a fake report to the insurance co saying there was mice damage to the drain pipe/tube. He fixed nothing that day. $75 fee to take the panel off and put it back on.

Now, let's assume that the drain pipe was chewed by mice. When the dw starts a cycle, the tub fills with water. Isn't the dw supposed to prevent any water from going through the drain?

Looking at it another way, if there was NO drain pipe attached to the dishwasher, would dw start leaking immediately upon starting a wash or rinse cycle?

Hi.

During the fill cycle water gets into the pump housing and into the lower portion of the drain hose. Water is not draining through the drain hose during the wash cycle because of the air-gap installed in the drain line. So, yes, if mice will chow down on the drain hose water will start leaking right away as soon the dishwasher starts filling up.
You can check it your self. Open the kick panel get down on the floor and start the dishwasher. Use a flashlight to locate the leak.

Thank you,

Simon.

p { margin-bottom: 0.25cm; line-height: 120%; }a:link { } Hello, one of my friends dishwasher was leaking and got a water damage in house. He was not sure whether his insurance policy covered water damage or not. He hired an adjuster from All claims USA to negotiate with the company and settle his claim.
