My Frigidaire front loading washer model GLTF1040AS0 does not agitate nor spin. I had a knocking noise as if a belt or something was flapping around in there before the agitation totally stopped. The spinning stopped first and still does not spin.
Had a service rep diagnose and suggested and replaced the drain pump and door lock with no results. I am calling a new service person and wondering what else could it be. If the repair is about $100 I will fix but thinking I should get a new one at this point.
At this point I am considering a $299 TOP load and sparing more repair costs.

You are on the right track with that $299 top loader. Given its age even if you get this machine fixed its life expectancy is not all that great. I assume the new machine is basic model, no frills, no electronics. That is good.
