Rank: Member Groups: Registered Joined: 6/24/2015(UTC) Posts: 1		My 5 year old GE Dryer all of a sudden wouldn't start and was making a very loud humming sound. All electronics were working, but it would start. I held the door the white door button and started the drum by hand while my wife hit the Start button. The dryer started right up. I had to do this two times, but after the second time, the dryer started on it's own.

Try turning the drum in the correct direction. It should turn fairly easily. You may want to try this on a couple other dryers to get a feel for it. Could also be that your motor is on it's last legs.
