My fridge has been giving me trouble with not defrosting for a few days now.

I checked the bi-metal defrost thermostat and seems to be good. It has continuity when cold and the circuit opens when it heats up. The defrost heater has continuity, so I believe the adaptive board is bad.

I have searched for this board and it seems to be out of stock everywhere. I was told that the manufacturer is 2 to 3 months backlog.

At this moment I am very interested in retrofitting the fridge with a mechanical timer. The cost is very low and they are available now.

However I am not sure if this would work and where I could find the wiring diagram for my fridge. I need some help figuring this one out...has anyone done this before?
