Our Refrigerator and freezer stopped cooling and freezing yesterday. The lights still come on when you open the door. The ice maker stopped producing ice about a year ago and just left it. Bought ice cube trays and dump them in and works fine that way. Still get water thru the door so not worried about that. But do need the whole unit to do its thing. Please advise
Thanks
Tina

Hi, Tina. It's very important part of diagnostic in your case! If the fan inside freezer and the fan near the compressor are not running follow this steps: have a flat blade screwdriver ready, open the fresh food section door, look up under the control panel, locate the small round opening on the right with a plastic shaft inside, use the screwdriver to SLOWLY turn the shaft CW (clock wise) until you will hear the click sound. Hopefully, at this point the compressor will kick in. If that is the case, the defrost timer should be replaced. Defrost timer: Part number: AP3110896

Hi, Tina. Next, using the butt of the same screwdriver knock several times on the right side knob at the front of the control panel. Make sure that the defrost timer is in between two long clicks. If the fridge starts replace the cold control/thermostat. All of this testing should be done only if the fans and compressor are NOT running!!! Cold control Part number: AP3037004
Thank you. Simon.
