Some plastic ware gets deformed, even in the top rack. This is not a new problem I am just tired of dealing with it. Is there a way to adjust the drying temperature?

more questions than answers for you, sorry. Many kitchen aide washers shipped with cheap Chineese heating elements. They failed often. The replacement elements are from a Korean vendor. These replacements are a higher wattage. You can see that the replacement elements include a new control board. This board has a shorter drying cycle time.
Did you buy your machine new? Is it still under warranty? There could have been an improper repair done in the past. Also beware there are different elements for plastic and stainless steal tubs.

I hope I helped you.
